High Purity Germanium (HPGe) Radiation Detectors
ORTEC is a leading supplier of high-resolution solid-state radiation detectors. These detectors are used in scientific research, commercial industry, environmental protection, medical physics, and homeland security to detect gamma radiation, X-rays, and charged particles.
As an industry pioneer, ORTEC was the first detector company to develop its own high-purity Germanium (HPGe) crystal production line in the early 1970s. Since then, the company has continued its leadership in HPGe detector technology, developing the first N-type HPGe detector and the first commercial electrically cooled HPGe detector. Most recently, ORTEC introduced the Profile S and C Series wide energy range HPGe detectors and ICS™, an advanced integrated electromechanical cryogenic cooling system.
ORTEC also offers several alternative HPGe detectors for radiation detection. Customers can choose from a variety of silicon charged-particle detectors for alpha spectroscopy, room temperature research applications, and scintillation detectors for a variety of room temperature radiation detection applications.
